As I have found too many articles stating that Failover Clustering can not be done on Windows Server R2 Standard Edition so, I am in confusion regarding the availability of this feature here. If it's not possible to create a cluster on Windows Server R2 Standard Edition, why is this feature incorporated with this version of Windows Server? SP1 is also installed into one of the servers.

Now whenever I am trying to validate the configuration, I am getting an error at the very first step of the process where I am browsing my 2 servers. Use Server Manager to install the feature on this computer". Need your help!! As Babarmunir states, Standard Edition did not have the clustering feature. However, it was still possible to use Standard to remotely manage, just like it could be remotely managed from a desktop client.

    May 11,  · That is correct. Windows R2 Standard Edition does not support Failover cluster. The failover cluster doesn't even show up in the list of features. I just checked it.
